No trip to Vancouver Island is complete without spending a day (or two or three) exploring the backroads in the Arrowsmith/Coombs area. For the outdoor enthusiast, there are the falls at Englishman River and the Little Qualicum, biking and hiking trails, and, of course, Mt. Arrowsmith itself! The region is also a mecca for antique hunters, bargain shoppers, and the curious visitor looking for something just a bit different. How about a butterfly sanctuary? A sprawling country market with a resident goat family on the roof? A dinosaur made out of car parts? Coombs and the surrounding villages of Hilliers and Errington are home to one of B.C.'s biggest concentrations of antique stores, farmers' markets, and artisans' studios. Nobody can explain why this area is so eccentric and so vibrant, but the friendly locals welcome visitors and invite you to share in their activities.

The Coombs Rodeo Grounds host all sorts of events for the whole family, from bronco bustin' to bluegrass festivals, with most activities and attractions in the area operating from spring till fall.
